Did You know...?

What is micro filtration?

Micro filtration – a completely natural milk filtration process through ceramic membranes (sieves), used to remove 99.9% of bacteria and other microorganisms, dead cells and impurities. As a result of this process the milk retains its full vitamin value and microelements, which are contained within, all the while maintaining the purest taste of milk.

Does micro filtration filter out vitamins found in milk?

Micro filtration is a completely natural milk treatment process used to rid milk of particles, by filtering it through several ceramic membranes, which are sifts containing a defined amount of bacteria. Luckily vitamins have different specifications than the bacteria and 100% remain in the milk not on the filters.

Can ZIMNE MLEKO be cooked?

Yes, ZIMNE MLEKO can be cooked like any other milk. The only question is why? Unless it’s a necessary measure for preparing a meal (i.e. pudding) – then of course it should be cooked. However there is no reason to cook milk under normal circumstances. Filtered milk like ZIMNE MLEKO can be safely served without being cooked first, even to children, due to the fact that it doesn’t contain any bacteria that might cause illness.

Can pregnant women drink ZIMNE MLEKO?

Yes, absolutely and without it being cooked. And thus the body is supplied with vitamins and microelements found in milk.

Can the bottles be returned – and if not why are they not recycled?

Returning bottles to be reused again in production is impossible because of the need to retain the milks properties and for safety. We use the same system for guaranteeing purity as is used for the production of goods for infants. Bottles must be microbiologically clean, so as not to contaminate the product contained within – bacteria cleansed milk that’s been micro filtered. Unfortunately no cleaning system offers such a guarantee. However bottles can be reused after they have been broken apart as a raw material in production. Unfortunately our trade isn’t interested in recycling the packaging. We attempted to implement this procedure at the early stages of our production – with no results.
In accordance with the law set forth the previous year all producers pay fees for the packaging launched on the market. Glass containers fall under this as well. The money goes to companies responsible for gathering raw materials in set (quota) quantities. The quota for raw materials gathered increases every year, so let’s hope that the plan set forth by the government has the desired effect.
Currently companies are also lobbying to introduce a system similar to what is currently used in Germany. Every store is legally responsible for returning packaging to the original distribution company.
In 2007 Robico is planning to replace the existing plastic bottle caps with metal caps to encourage them being used as containers for other products in homes.

Will there be milk with 0.5% fat content?

Yes, 2007 will see the arrival of milk with lower fat content as well as other functional additives, available for health conscious consumers.

Is the milk pasteurized or does it undergo UHT treatment?

ZIMNE MLEKO is fresh milk that is first goes through a micro filtration process - a completely natural milk filtration process through ceramic membranes (sieves), used to remove 99.9% of bacteria and other microorganisms, dead cells and impurities then carefully pasteurized at 72oC which guarantees safety and is also required by polish law. It’s worthwhile noting the lowest permit able pasteurization temperature is used (72oC) instead of 80 - 100oC, which doesn’t subject the milk to the effects of very high temperatures and allows it to retain more of its natural flavor.

How long can it be kept after opening?

ZIMNEGO MLEKA expires after 14 days of its production, if constantly cooled. Few know that a 3oC difference diminishes the products lifespan by 50%. After opening the container the milk should be used within 24 hours. Milk should only be used after it has expired if there is no change in taste or smell of the product.

Why aren’t the bottle caps like they used to be – aluminum?

An unscrewable plastic bottle cap is used instead of aluminum covering because it’s a more practical solution witch allows the container to opened and sealed again and again.

Why does cold milk, witch is fresh, have such a long expiration period, up to 10 days? Is Robico milk really fresh? Does it undergo any treatment to help conserve it?

ZIMNE MLEKO – is the first microfiltered milk in Poland. This method of production is based on extending the expiration period beyond than similar products up for sale that have been traditionally pasteurized. In the case of ZIMNE MLEKO this is the result of the microfiltration process - completely natural (mechanized) process of purification using GP ceramic membranes and subjecting the milk to the temperature 72oC during pasteurization. Combining both these processes allows for a 2-week expiration period, only when ZIMNE MLEKO is refrigerated at 6oC. It’s necessary to maintain this temperature in order to keep the milk from spoiling before the expiration date. A 3oC difference diminishes the products lifespan by 50%.
